| This standing Easter bunny candy container by MAROLIN® is brand new for Easter 2011. He and his cousin from North Germany are 8 inches tall with heads that can be removed to put sweets into the container body. MAROLIN® produces these German folk art candy containers in the Thuringian forests of the eastern part of Germany. The artists at MAROLIN® use original early 20th century molds or develop their own traditional designs. All of the products are made of special paper-mâché. The recipe for this paper-mâché is over 100 years old and a trade secret. First the special mixture is poured into the plaster of Paris mold which absorbs the moisture. After 6 days the mold can be opened and the figures are ready to be 'baked' at 70°C. Then the rabbits are hand-painted and their glass eyes and horsehair whiskers are attached. These wonderful little critters also carry a a turned wooden lantern popular among German children. The gray ribbon tie is not included in the sale but easy to copy. | |||||||
