We at antikhaus found these exceptionally lovely reproduction toys in the East German mountains of Thuringia. It takes hours for artists of our partner firm MAROLIN® to hand-paint the wry faces of the paper-mâché heads and craft the rest of these sly-looking chaps and their boxes all by hand. There are 4 chickens in this group 2 hens, a rooster and 1 yellow peep. The rooster is 1 1/2 inches tall and the standing hen is the same size. All of the family have metal legs. Nice to use with the German stable or great for Easter. They are another fine item from MAROLIN®. All MAROLIN® items are made of very fine, porcelain-like paper mâché. From a secret recipe which is over a hundred years old. They are new item but filled with years of traditional craftsmanship!
